Tot School

TotSchool2

Aaron is currently 30 months old.

Aaron had a pretty good week…except for getting sick at the end of the week with this upper respiratory junk that has been going around :-(.

Here are some picture highlights from the week.

The boys are still  loving the Wii (well as long as Aaron has a remote that is…we are really having to work on our fits and learning how to take turns!)  In this picture they were going on a long run (to release some bottled up energy!)

The kids loved playing with Daddy this week.  They helped Daddy with his exercises one night.

This was actually an activity we did as part of our Raising Rockstar lessons but Aaron really enjoyed this activity of lacing yarn around this lion.  I just took a zoo pal plate and punched holes around the edges and then cut a piece of yarn.  I taped one end of the yarn to the back of the plate.  Aaron tried real hard to get the yarn in those holes!

Aaron doesn’t always like me taking his picture.  (in fact I haven’t been getting as many pictures because I don’t want the kids to think I am doing something with them just so I can get a picture and put it on the blog.  I am trying to make sure my focus stays where it needs to be…on them!)

Aaron is really enjoying coloring right now.  He likes it when him and I color a picture together.  I am trying to teach him his colors as we work on a page together…I know one day he will finally get it!  :-)

We are also working on our left and right every time we get dressed or put our shoes and socks on.  I think he is starting to grasp it!

And we are starting to talk about the potty and what we are suppose to do in the potty!  I am hoping that I will maybe, hopefully, have him potty trained by the time we go on our cruise at the end of June.  He turns 3 on July 6th so it is very possible :-)  I just have a feeling he is going to be a stubborn one!

Tot School

Not only am I late in getting this post up…I also did not get any pictures last week of our activities.  But this does not mean that we didn’t have any activities.  We had a very good week last week.

Aaron enjoyed putting puzzles together with his brother.  They put together the alphabet train puzzle several times.  Seth enjoyed teaching Aaron his ABC’s while they were putting it together.  There were some really sweet moments.

Aaron also loved coloring his sharks coloring book.  He has always been more interested in coloring than Seth ever was.

Aaron really seems to be going through a difficult phase right now.  I don’t know if it is typical middle child conflict or not but he seems to be showing some jealousy of both Seth and Alyssa.  I am thinking he is just trying to figure out where he fits in.  I am trying to make a conscious effort of making sure I spend some special time with Aaron to make him feel special.  Hopefully this phase will pass quickly :-)

Well I better get off here so I can get started on our busy and fun week this week!  Have a great week everyone!

Tot School – Getting Ready For Christmas

TotSchool2

Aaron is currently 29 months old

We aren’t doing much of regular “tot school” this month…but we are having fun learning experiences through making Christmas decorations, Christmas presents and just having some good ol Christmas fun!!

We made a lot of Christmas decorations this week.  We made two different types of Christmas tree decorations.

For one we put felt around a foam cone and then Aaron stuck ball pointed straight pins in the foam for the ornaments.  He really enjoyed doing this one because he was able to do it all by himself.

We also made pipe cleaner trees and stuck beads on them for ornaments.  He had a little bit of trouble doing this but he sure tried hard!

We read Luke’s account of the birth of Jesus from the bible while we set up our nativity scene.

Aaron proved to me that he can do simple patterning as we made our ornament ball wreath.  I wanted to thread our ornaments by doing a shiny one and then a glittery one.  Aaron was handing the ornaments to me…saying “shiny”, “glitter”… and was doing a very good job keeping them in the right pattern.  I was so impressed!

As a family we enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree and got some really fun pictures in the process!

Tot School - At MiMi's!!

Aaron is 27 Months Old

We had a very interesting week this week!  Daddy was gone all week!  We have been at my Mom's most of the week.  But Aaron enjoyed his time with his MiMi and Poppy very much!  Here are some highlights from our week!

One good thing about MiMi - she is a school teacher!!  She used to teach 1st grade but now is in 6th grade!  Therefore she has a bunch of resources!!  She gave some that we were able to take home and some other books that I took time this week to jot down ideas from!  We also went shopping on Saturday and spent a gook amount of time in Barnes & Noble and MiMi got us so many more books and resources!  So we have so many new ideas and fun stuff to do!!  I just have to figure out how to put in time to review and plan everything.

One of the things that she gave us was tropical linking fish  and swinging links (I found them online and posted pictures below...each picture has a link to the school supply site where I found them). They are different colors and they link together many different ways.  The swinging links will swing around once snapped together.  They will be great for learning colors, counting, patterns, etc...  Aaron really enjoyed playing with these this week!!!  He is working on his counting to 10 and he can almost do it correctly!!

Aaron is also getting a lot of practice learning the parts of his body with our Raising Rockstar lessons.  Our lesson this week was on God Made Me and we did a lot of portraits of ourselves.  I had Aaron show me where to put his eyes, ears, nose, mouth, etc...

He loved putting M&M eyes on his people cookies!

Tot School - kitchen week

 Aaron is 25 months old.
The first of the week was a lot better than the last part of the week!  Seth ended up getting sick (and Mommy felt bad herself) so we didn't have school on Thursday and Friday.

But the first part of the week we got in a lot of kitchen activities (both of my sons' favorite!)
We made chef hats...
and enjoyed playing kitchen while wearing them. :-)
We made puffy paint cookies (with yellow paint because Mommy couldn't find the brown!)

We cooked vegetable soup and banana bread for Granny and PaPa.   Aaron loved washing his hands...

and adding the cut veggies to the crock pot!

He helped with the banana bread by turning on the mixer...
and mixing the dry ingredients.

We started Alyssa on cereal...but she is not liking it too well.  She looks at me like I have just stuck dirt in her mouth!

Tot School - Field Trip!!

Aaron is 25 months old!
I hope yall like pictures because I have a bunch to share this week!!  We had a very exciting week this week.
We started the week with a picnic in our backyard on Monday night!  Daddy had to work late that night and the boys have a tendency to get cranky when he is not home in the evenings.  I am trying to find ways to keep them settled and thought they might like a picnic.  We had a lot of fun!  The best part was when Daddy showed up...coming home a lot earlier than expected!
Here are some picture highlights from that fun night!
On our blanket enjoying our corn dogs!

I sent the boys on a nature hunt.  Aaron was trying to grab leaves off the branches.

We had a fun time playing bubbles.  Aaron gets so excited with bubbles!

I LOVE this pic!!  (just wish I would have thought to wash the ketchup and mustard off his face before we started playing :-) )

Aaron loves his swing!

After our bath that night Aaron tried to get himself dressed for bed.  He wants to be able to do this by himself so bad but he hasn't quite got it down yet!

On Thursday we took a field trip to the Museum of Nature and Science and the Children's Museum.  The boys had an absolute blast!  There were so many different things for them to do there.
We got to see all kinds of dinosaur bones.

I LOVE this pic!!  Aaron was so excited in this room filled with different animals!  He absolutely loves animals!

Here he is gathering eggs  that the hens laid in the barn area.

He ran right up to the tri-cycle but didn't want to get on...I don't know why...

Here he is milking the cow.

He loved the firetruck!  The only part of the fireman gear he would wear was the hat and he insisted on wearing it backwards!

They had all kind of animal costumes but he wouldn't try any of them on.  I finally got him to put this one on long enough for me to get a picture!

This has to be my favorite picture!

He of course loved the water tables.

He was so excited that there was a room that he got to go to that Seth didn't.  This room was for ages 0-2.  He had fun climbing around on the soft pads.

Of course I have to share a picture of Alyssa.  She had fun that day too!  She was a very good baby!  And Carissa, she is loving her baby doll as well :-)    It is so cute to watch her hug her baby.

Of course we also colored, played and sang songs this week  It was a super fun week.  Can I go take a nap now?  :-)
